Have you ever wondered how much you could make selling that icon set? Writing that eBook? Designing that theme? So did I. And so over the last week, I've been working in my spare time on a tool to answer those questions. A tool that I call Stand To Make.
It's simple. You drag the numbers and change the variables to see what your potential earnings are. You can even choose different payment providers such as PayPal, Stripe, or markets like Envato or Creative Market to see how much of a cut they'll take.
Technical
The site was kickstarted with the Yeomanwebapp
generator. I opted-out of the Twitter Boostrap, and other add ons. I wanted to keep it really simple.
Once the basics were there, the next step was getting the interaction right. I first sketched out a few ideas on paper. And I quickly realized that Tangle.js would be the perfect candidate for adjusting the values. (I did have to tweak TangleKit.js
a bit to get things the way I wanted. I'll talk about that in a future post.)
When that was all wrapped up, I styled it with some vanilla CSS (I think I'll migrate to SASS when I revisit it.) And tweaked everything to my liking. The fonts used are the lovely Museo and Museo Sans, hosted at Typekit.
Reception
I've only just launched this baby. Only time will tell.
